Prati is promoting its DigiFastone digital finishing line for printed reels which produces value-added labels at high speed and with high precision. It is based on the company’s Futura field-upgradable open platform technology.
The line is fully digital from inkjet module to laser die-cutting and turret rewind, and offers the capability to produce short-run promotional labels in the food and beverage, wine and spirits, cosmetics, personal care and home care sectors.
At Labelexpo it is being displayed in a configuration consisting of an unwinder with automatic tension and end-of-reel control, web guide, digital screen unit, lamination unit. The laser die-cutting processes, a 100% vision system for in-line quality control, cutting and rewinding follow.
“Converters asked us for a ‘non-stop solution’: completely digital, both in finishing and die-cutting,” explained Matteo Bertoni, Prati Area Manager and DigiFast20000 product leader. “No special tools are required to run the machine. A quick set-up is ensured thanks to the laser die-cutting unit, which offers the enormous advantage of not imposing limits on the size and shape of the labels.
“In addition, the DigiFastone is configurable with a double shaft turret rewinder, in combination with the buffer ensuring a non-stop finishing. With the turret rewinder, the operator no longer worries about the rewinding cycle. His work is limited to loading the cores and collecting the finished reels.”
As well as carrying out varnishing, die-cutting, counting, cutting and rewinding, DigiFastone can process a wide variety of materials from self-adhesive labels, clear-on-clear (including AD-MDO and UPM PP30), wraparound labels, shrink sleeves, plastic films, unsupported paper and plastic materials, in a range of thicknesses from 12 to 350 microns.
A very small amount of waste material is generated by DigiFastone, significantly reducing set-up times and guaranteeing a register accuracy of 0.15 mm, even reaching 100 m/min in the configuration with laser die cutting.
In addition, can produce tactile effects and textures, decorations and textures up to 130μm, and Braille and Marburg Medium printing for pharmaceutical products. Caption:
