drupa certainly exceeded all of Prati’s expectations, thanks to the interest generated by the DIGI COMPACT, a converting and finishing line for self-adhesive labels and digitally printed flexible packaging, having its debut with the JetFx digital embellishment unit.
In a roll-to-stack configuration, it has proven capable of combining different analogue and digital technologies on a wide range of materials, from 12 to 350 microns. Demonstrating its flexibility, the multitasking machine allows many types of processing (roll-to-roll, roll-to-sheet, and roll-to-stack) all in one.
The DIGI COMPACT, in addition to its ergonomic design, boasts an extremely compact footprint, reduced paper passage, and a focus on environmental sustainability, particularly during the set-up phase to minimise waste. Moreover, it offers ease of use to the operator, with many functions managed autonomously by the machine.
At the fair, Chiara Prati, CEO and CSO of Prati, noted an increase in demand for digital, in particular digital printing in other sectors such as the wide web and short runs. “There is a strong demand for customisation, both for flexible packaging and folding cartons. And there is also an emerging demand for mid-web finishing for flexible packaging and folding cartons, as well as finishing machines for plastic films, especially flexible packaging and folding cartons,” she commented.
The three pillars of sustainability
For over 50 years, Prati has been serving the printing market with innovative solutions that focus on people and the environment. Its sustainable innovations involve energy savings, production efficiency and safe and simple machine operation.
The company’s commitment to social responsibility is not just a part of its corporate culture, but a driving force behind its operations. This commitment is evident in the promotion of a safe and inclusive work environment that allows each team member to express themselves at their best. Furthermore, Prati raises awareness of the importance of eco-sustainability and trains its people through sustainable and conscious growth paths that inspire with their values.
Chiara Prati emphasises: “Our motto is ‘continuous improvement’, and as human beings, we are aware that each of us needs to learn and improve every day, an evolutionary process that we have transferred to our machines.
“Thanks to the principle of modularity, in fact, each machine can also be equipped, even at a later time, with new functions and new modules, thus allowing the user to also enter new markets and explore new business opportunities without risks.”
Prati Philosophical Cards
“Behind the entire Prati machine, there is the strength of the team and the new Space Age Finishing communication campaign inspired by the planets to emphasise the value of construction that lasts over time, in harmony with the other elements and with the environment,” explains Daniela Binario, Communication Manager, Prati.
Aware that the ‘Prati planet’ shines thanks to the light of the team’s ‘stars’, Prati invited its staff to share their own thoughts, which is how the ‘Messages from the Prati Galaxy’ were born. These are a concrete example of the transformative power of communication, which Prati expressed at drupa by converting the messages into ‘Prati philosophical cards’. “This promotion was successful among visitors and had the added benefit of not wasting materials used for demonstration at the fair,” she added.
