Customers want to make the most of the media flexibility presented by the OKI PRO10xx range of roll-to-roll label printers and this means being able to run clear or coloured media which provides the freedom to create labels of constantly changing size, shape and durability.
At Visual Impact, Steven Richards, OKI’s Channel Manager – Label Solutions, demonstrated the PRO1050, which brings a new colour dimension to the printed label. Using digital LED together with dry toner technology, the PRO1050 offers a unique fifth colour or ‘CMYK+White option, allowing for greater flexibility in label design. Printing on transparent or coloured label media is now straightforward when an opaque white background is printed under the CMYK image.
The on-demand, short-run colour label printing capability drives new revenue streams. Unrivalled media handling allows users to take on new creative ideas and complex jobs with ease. A further advantage is its ability to produce waterproof labels that are robust and resistant to UV fading without lamination.
As a part of OKI’s continued expansion in the provision of roll-to-roll solutions for printing labels in-house, there is an increased demand for specialist finishing requirements. To meet this need, OKI is working with Smartech Business Systems with their Graphtec finishing unit and other partners, to provide a range of cutting devices that give customers the flexibility to cut, perf, slit and rewind a variety of substrate types.
“Being able to print and then finish labels on rolls with an automated system has been hugely beneficial for businesses wanting to either enhance productivity or introduce labels on rolls to their business offering with very little labour required to complete a job with print, lamination, stripping and weeding all being completed by the machines not the operator, allowing operators to concentrate on other equipment while this solution is running in the background,” noted Steven Richards.
