Interest and sales generated by GSE’s display at Labelexpo Europe 2019 demonstrated the growing importance of comprehensive ink logistics solutions for an efficient, responsive label and packaging value chain.
The company, which provides comprehensive ink logistics solutions including dispensing systems, tabletop proofers and management software, for label, packaging, wallpaper, textile and industrial coatings applications, confirmed four sales of its Colorsat Switch ink dispensers, and several agreements to supply its newly-enhanced GSE Ink Manager Version 5.1 software at the show.
GSE Marketing Director Maarten Hummelen says the solutions help packaging and label printers reduce the costs of handling ink, simplify ink-related processes through the workflow and improve response times, providing important efficiencies, tracking and reporting capabilities.
“GSE Ink Manager is a customisable suite of software products which automates formula preparation, production scheduling, ink return and reuse – vital in today’s resourceconscious market – and full tracking and reporting on ink batches through the supply chain,” he explains.
“Version 5.1 offers improved recordkeeping capability and a new reportgeneration package which provides extra detail on ink stocks including booking-in dates after purchasing or returning from press, expiry date, supplier, batch codes and quantities used in production, and real-time stock and consumption levels.
“This will simplify compliance with pharmaceutical and food safety standards, allow for more accurate costing and forecasting, and enhance machine connectivity and productivity in the ink kitchen – in fact, it really takes the remit of ink logistics beyond simply cost-cutting to a true ‘Smart Manufacturing’ system, allowing for faster decision making, greater safety and quality assurance and reduced workflow touchpoints.
“Already, GSE has more than 1,900 installations worldwide and this, together with the success and interest of our Labelexpo display, reflects the increasing recognition by both ink suppliers and users of the importance of ink management systems to create productive, profitable and environmentally responsible production workflows,” Hummelen says.
