Since installing an HP Latex R1000 Flat Bed printer earlier this year, Star Stuff Group has not only been able to provide its customers with a new standard in print production technology but also the flexibility for short runs to create high-impact customised packaging.
The flexible ink technology in the R1000 makes it possible to achieve the glossiest white on transparent and coloured media, with high-opacity white that won’t go yellow over time. The eco-friendly water-based inks provide odourless print, produce the most vibrant colours on high-value speciality boxes and displays, and sharpen the quality of any rigid substrate, including corrugated cardboard with no waste between white print jobs. They also facilitate better folding and bending without cracking compared to UV ink-based technologies.
The HP Latex Overcoat3 inks ensure high adhesion and scratch resistance while lower curing temperatures allow for wide media versatility. The hybrid unit can print on a wide range of flexible and rigid substrates up to 5cm thick, from paper, films, synthetic substrates, rigid plastics, timber, acrylic, PVC foam, Corflute, polycarbonate sheets, honeycomb board, metal, boards, fabrics, glass, ceramic tiles, canvas and more.
The HP Latex R1000 Flat Bed printer produces 6.4 indoor or 12 outdoor boards per hour thanks to its continuous loading function. Automatic maintenance – including automatic recirculation and nozzle checks, smart vacuum and assisted loading help to avoid costly mistakes. Productive belt workflow handles print peaks in-house and meets short deadlines with up to 57 m² per hour on up to 60 kg rolls for flexible printing.
Star Stuff can now produce mailer cartons, E-Commerce boxes, subscription boxes, packaging cartons, cartons, product sleeves, gift boxes, carrier cartons and folding cartons at their Capalaba premises in Brisbane for distribution nationally and to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, the Pacific Region, USA, UK, and greater Europe.
The HP Latex R1000 provides brand colour consistency across rigid and flexible substrates using one printer. And it’s not only for packaging; the versatile printer can also produce retail, event promotion and marketing material as well as commercial products.
As the Star Stuff Group has found, the HP Latex R series is a game-changer in the print industry, with its ability to transform the seemingly impossible into unique product concepts for an extensive range of applications.
