At LogiMAT in Stuttgart from April 25 to 27, 2023, thin-film specialist LEONHARD KURZ will be demonstrating technologies for reliable, robust and long-lasting product labelling, which makes it possible to communicate variable data – for greater process and supply chain security.
At the interface between packaging and logistics, product labelling is an important link that creates the basis for smooth processes. Smart technologies not only enable reliable identification and seamless tracking of products and components but also facilitate the automation of processes. At the same time, they increasingly offer integrated added value by opening up new opportunities to enhance product labelling with additional features.
An excellent example of this is Thermal Transfer Ribbons (TTR), which are ideal for equipping labels with variable barcodes or 2D codes. The technology is compatible with a wide range of substrates and ensures consistent print results with high-edge definition.
LEONHARD KURZ has perfected TTR printing. Its TTR ribbons are used in a wide range of industries including pharmaceutical. Based on individual consultations, tailor-made solutions can be developed that precisely meet the requirements of the respective customer.
The (r)evolution of product labelling
But KURZ goes one step further. Under the theme ‘Be unique. Beyond standard.’ KURZ will demonstrate how hidden information can be integrated directly into the ribbons with minimal effort.
The two innovative solutions TTR Unique UV and TTR Unique VEROSPEC help to cost-effectively provide products and packaging with reliable tamper protection. With both technologies, even the thinnest strips of a barcode can be equipped with security features hidden in the ink of the thermos transfer ribbon.
The elements with fluorescent properties only become visible under ultraviolet light. With the naked eye, on the other hand, the corresponding printed label looks like a standard label. While TTR Unique UV uses a conventional UV lamp for verification anywhere in the supply chain, TTR Unique VEROSPEC requires a special reader.
“Our TTR ribbons are used in many industries. Accordingly, our customers’ requirements can differ greatly from one another. We always take this into account when further developing our products – because it is important to us to offer tailor-made solutions,” explains Thomas Galsterer, Sales Expert TTR at KURZ. “For example, there are hardly any limits to the design options when it comes to equipping the ribbons with custom data. In addition to the logo and company name, various other information can be integrated as needed.”
Strong product properties and comprehensive support
In addition to the excellent price-performance ratio and safe use in almost all areas of application, KURZ TTR ribbons also offer other advantages. Customers can easily integrate them into nearly all established printing systems on the market. In addition, the KURZ Group offers short-notice availability worldwide without any delivery issues, short coordination channels and competent advice on all products and technologies.
