Labelexpo Chicago was awash with new machinery catering to the international label market, but when it comes to super-fast changeovers and ease of operation, converters couldn’t go past the OMET stand with their latest iFlex release. According to Currie Group’s Jon Murray, the genius of the OMET iFlex series is built on two highly-attractive features: simple to use, and super-quick set-up.
“OMET set out to simplify this press with several innovations,” said Jon. “And this has delivered real benefits to the operator through ease of use, and super quick changeovers.
Also welcomed by converters, is a press that delivers maximum production with little fuss and bother. The iFlex has servo assisted pre-register and register setting devices that speed-up the machine set-ups (1 minute to set 8 flexo units) and rebooting after a change.”
Jon said another attractive feature of the press was its narrow web path which meant real savings in the start-up phase. “It is the only press to have all the impression rollers as Direct Drive, which delivers the obvious benefits of print quality, along with the waste savings that can be made. The iFlex has been designed to deliver top quality products on all kinds of substrates, with one pass. It can handle a range of sizes going from 5.5 inches up to 18 inches, for small printing plate production.
It also covers the gamut from self-adhesive labels; wraparound and shrink labels; as well as unsupported film materials.”
He said through the use of a range of Smart Cameras – one each flexo unit – the operator can check and fine-tune each colour where necessary, one by one in real time. “When it comes to die-cutting, the iFlex has an ergonomically-designed
die-cutting unit with the OMET “Easy Change” technology, allowing for quick and easy handling without the need for any lifting device.
“The iFlex printing press for labels, fills a gap in the available technology for those medium to large label converters, whose need is to produce large amounts of standard labels in one pass, with just-in-time deliveries and a decreased process
wastage,” added Jon. “iFlex also represents an ideal press for converters with lower budget capabilities, to print labels with a high level of efficiency and get a high return on investment.”
